Mary went to Wisconsin in the same wagon-train with her relativ es. At
least one child was born there. Soon after 1850 they went to Califor nia and
settled at Marysville, where Mr. Stevens kept a store. Probably som e of

his relatives were with them, but none of Mary's. There are no tow n or
county records of them at Marysville as it now is.
Word was sent back of Mary's death, but her children were los t track of
by eastern relatives of a later generation some of whom seem to hav e confused
these Stevenses with a Stevens family allied to other Pembers. Indee d the
same Stevens line may have more than one Pember connection. One Geor ge Stevens
came East from Yuba Co., leaving desc. in the central states. Ida St evens who
married and settled in Boone, Iowa, claimed cousinship in this branc h.
