      WHICH INCLUDES ALL HIS POSTERITY OF THE NAME, WHO ARE NOW RESIDENTS OF T H IS COUNTY AND VICINITY.

      John,7 the eldest son of William and Anne Fiske, married Anne,
      Page 4


      daughter of Robert Lanterce, and had three sons, who were Rev. J o hn,
      Nathan, and William, Esq., the subject of our research; and two
      daughters,--Ann, who married a Chickering, and Martha, who marri e d a
      Thompson. He was of St. James' Church, South Elmham, and die d i n 1633.
      About three years after his decease his widow, and some or all t h eir children,
      set sail for America; she died on the passage, but we find tha t s ome of the
      children subsequently were living in this country; namely, Rev . J ohn Fiske, who
      was a physician as well as preacher of the gospel, and resid e d a short time in
      Salem, in Wenham about a dozen years, when he removed, with mo s t of the
      church for whom he preached, to Chelmsford, Mass., where he dece a sed in
      1677. His wife, who was an Anne Gipps, and to whom he was marri e d in Old
      England, bore him several children; one of whom was the Rev. Mos e s Fiske,
      who was settled over the church in Braintree, who had, for on e o f his sons, the
      Rev. Samuel Fiske, who came to Salem and settled over the chur c h here; and
      some of his descendants still reside here now, bearing the nam e s of Allen,
      Putnam, &c. Martha, who resided in Salem, and deceased previou s t o June 18,
      1674, to whose daughters, Martha Burton and Anna Thompson, her b r other,
      Rev. John, bequeathed in his will of that date; and William, Esq.
