      The will of Mrs. Mary B. Pember was probated Feb. 12, 1879;
      Rec. Vol. 8, p. 161. Besides the provision for her husband Daniel B.
      from rent of real estate (it was written before his death) and the
      bequests to her own relatives, it included bequests to John H. Pember,
      Daniel B. Pember, Mary E. Pember "for her name", Elizabeth A. Andrus,
      Edward B. Andrus, Myrtle P. Gardner, Martha W. Pratt, F. Howard Pratt,
      and Howard Pember "a grandson."
      All four sons in this family served in the War of the Rebellion.

      Lieut. Jonathan Smith is said to have kept the first hotel in Randolph, Vt.
      The following records are from a bible owned by Mrs. Adams. Jonathan Smith
      married to Abigail Edgerton May 10th, 1789. They had 12 ch:
