The Clink farm is near Woodville, and some three miles from Pem berville. -------- ch Maude. The only daughter is Mrs. Maude Lee Ross who lives in Toledo. sons (Clink), about 3. BEERS & CO. 1896. page 203 CHARLES CLINK, a practical and progressive agriculturist of Woodville tow nship, Sandusky county, was born December 23, 1843, in the township whic h is still his home, and is the second son of Caleb Clink. Mr. Clink was married February 28, 1869, in Pemberville, Ohio, to Miss Ca roline Pember, daughter of Hiram Pember, page 204 in whose honor the town of Pemberville was named. He was born in New York , and there learned the trade of blacksmithing and iron working. In the Empire State he married Matilda Heath, and in 1832 removed to Ohio with h is family, locating in Wood county, where, with others, he founded the tow n of Pemberville. Eight children were born of that marriage, three of whom ar e living: Adeline, the first white child born in that section of Wood cou nty, and now the wife of Charles Stahler, a farmer of Pemberville; Stillw ell, a retired farmer of Kansas; and Caroline, wife of our subject. The f ather died in 1878, the mother on September 2, 1874. Three children bles s the union of Mr. and Mrs. Clink, viz. Maud, born in Pemberville, Wood c ounty. May 12, 1874, educated in Woodville township, Sandusky county, an d married October 16, 1890, to B. I. Ross, a resident of Mansfield, Ohio , employed as a railroad engineer (he has been employed by the Pennsylvan ia Company twelve years); Claude, born September 5, 1876, in Woodville to wnship, attended the district schools and the Normal of Ada, Ohio, and is now engaged in operating in the oil fields; the third c hild died in infancy. In 1884 Mr. and Mrs. Clink adopted a nine-weeks-ol d baby boy by the name of Frank C. Foster, who has since been one of th e family. page 279 JACOB KLINK, a well-known and popular citizen of Woodville township, Sand usky county was born December 9, 1839, and is a son of Caleb and Mary (Br unthaver) Klink, who were born, respectively. May 7, 1811, in Wittenber g , Germany, and January 12, 1813, in Columbus, Ohio. Caleb Klink came to America at the tender age of six years. On September 27, 1836, Caleb Clink was united in marriage with Mary Brunt haver, and four sons and four daughters were born to them, as follows: Lo uisa, born August 11, 1837, at Green Spring, Sandusky county, now decease d, married Henry Peters, a farmer, by whom she had six children, and he r esides in Woodville township, Sandusky county; Jacob is the subject of th is sketch; Charles, born December 23, 1841, married Caroline Pember, by w hom he has had three children, and they live in Woodville township; Leah , born March 1, 1844, married Elexix Nolan, by whom she had four children , and both she and her husband are now deceased; Ellen, born June 15, 184 6, and died at the age of eighteen; Adam, born September 15, 1848, was un ited in marriage on May 28, 1878, with Sarah Caris, daughter of Adam an d Julia Caris, of Wood county, Ohio, born January page 280 3, 1860, and by her has one child-Lester, born December 13, 1880 (he live d at home the greater part of his life, and has worked for the pipe line compa ny, there being fourteen oil wells on the Klink estate, all in good flow) ; Catherine, born February 12, 1853, married John Foster, by whom she ha d two children, and they live in Elmore, Ottawa Co., Ohio; and Reuben, bo rn January 11, 1853, now a farmer in Woodville township, married Addie Tu cker, by whom he has had four children. Two years after his marriage Caleb Clink moved to Woodville township, San dusky county, where at that time he had eighty acres, on which there wa s no clearing. . . . . After a long busy and useful life, beloved by a large circle of f riends and neighbors, he passed away at the old homestead November 26, 18 94, at the age of eighty-three years, six months and nineteen days, and w as buried in Woodville township, Sandusky county, November 28, 1894. On October 12, 1866, Jacob Klink was united in marriage with Miss M. J. M cCrary, who was born December 12, 1846, and three children have been bor n to them, as follows; Rosa, Frank and Henry. At the age of twenty-six Mr . Klink went to Woodville township, Sandusky Co., Ohio, entered into part nership with Henry Rancamp, and they conducted a general store there fo r six months, then removed to Pemberville, Wood Co., Ohio, where they con ducted a store for two years. Socially, Mr. Klink is a Free Mason, in politics a Democrat, was supervis or and school director for several years, and is highly spoken of. Mrs. Klin k was one of eight children. Her father was born July 4, 1812, and now li ves in Toledo, Ohio, with a daughter. Her mother died in 1850.
