40. JOHN WEAVER (son of No. 39). He married Alice, daughter of Thomas An t on
of Presteign and London, who was "Clark of the Courts of Wards and Liver i es." John
and Alice had seven children, viz.: John, Thomas, George, James, Jane, A n ne and
Catherine. Like his father-in-law, John had at least a temporary residen c e in London
where, perhaps, he held a position under his father-in-law. His family m a y have
remained in Presteign. His son George was the only one of the family w h o had his
pedigree recorded in the Heralds Visitations. The other brothers, John , T homas and
James do not appear to have been interested in their pedigree and ther e i s no further
record of them in the Parish Registers of Presteign or London.
