She was married t o My ron Nathan Crandall in 1840 at Nauvoo, Illinois. At the time the Mor mon s were driven out of Nauvoo in 1846, she and her family went to Kanes vill e, Iowa, where they lived until 1850, then crossed the plains to Gre at Sa lt Lake Valley. Letter written to Tryphena Bisbee Crandall, Utah Territory by Polly Pack a rd Bisbee:"McDonough, N.Y. May 30th, 1841 Dear and affectionate child , w e received your letter dated May 8th and was sorry to hear that you h ad n ot heard from us. We sent you a letter last July and also another i n Marc h and we wrote to you both times that we had not received any pape rs an d I desire to know what the reason is that we do not receive them . I wan t you to write to Stephen and try to find out the cause of all th is troub le. There hasn't been elders in this place since you went away . We know n othing about the church only what we hear in the newspapers a nd they spea k quite well of them. Hiram stops fighting for me. Our healt h is much a s yousial and I hope these few broken lines will find you inj oying the sa me blessing. I am sorry to hear you was sik last summer bu t if you lov Go d it will work fore your good. You wrote that you had mar ried a poor ma n I care not how poore hee is if hee is rich in faith an d will keep all t he commands of God with an I single to the glory of th e same. then I thin k you can take comfort together. I want you to come a nd make us a long vi sit, both of you if you have faith anofe to come b y water. Your father wr ote to you if you would send word how much monn y it would take to bare yo ur expense he would send you same but I thin k it wouldnt bee safe to sen d monny in a letter as you dont get them. Th is is the third time that I h ave wrote to you less than a yeare and hav e been looking for a letter eve r sens last fall from you. I began to thi nk that you was all dead but whe n I heard from you I felt to thank the l ord that hee had spared youre lif e and my prayer to God is that hee woul d prepare a way for us to see eac h other onse more this side of the grav e. Note-(There is no signature aft er this abrupt ending, but the handwri ting is that of Tryphena's mother , Polly Bisbee. The letter was folded a nd apparently sealed with wax, n o envelope, but with this inscription: E ast Pharsalia, N.Y. June 10th Mr . Myron Crandal, Quincy, Adams Co.
