      wclink Hello!
I'm not sure that I'm related to Caleb Clink although it is possible. M y earliest known Clink ancestor was Johannes George Clink (Klinck) b 175 5 in Germany, died 1802 in Albany, NY. He married Phoebe Thornton in Ne w York in 1774 so he was here fairly early.
As to Alexander Franklin Thompson... as I said I believe he is the younge r brother of my Isaac Criswell Thompson. Their parents were George Thomps on and Rachel McClenahan Criswell. George died around 1821 and Rachel die d before 1828 thus leaving quite young children.
The only thing I know about George's parents are that his mother called N ancy. I have not determined who his father was. The only reason I know hi s mother's name is that I found an accounting of his estate after he die d and the narrative indicated his mother Nancy and wife Rachel were in at tendance.
George and Rachel Thomson had 4 children: Isaac Criswell, William K (Kinn ear?), Alexander F. (Franklin?) and Martha Jane. These children have bee n proven by 2 documents. Isaac Criswell Thompson by his grandfather's (Is aac Criswell) will where he is left $5. Summary follows:
      CRESWELL, ISAAC. Londonderry.
      April 3, 1822. June 15, 1822.
Provides for wife Martha. Directs sale of a part of his land after six
years and proceeds divided among six daus. Jane Ross, Margaret, Martha, M ary, Hannah and Miriam Creswell. To son James and dau. Rachel M. Tompson $ 5 each.To my gr.sons Isaac Creswell Tompson, John A. Creswell and Isaac C reswell, $5 each. To sons Isaac and Elijah the remainder of my land.Rem . of estate to above 6 daughters.
Executors: Joshua B. Linton and son Isaac Creswell.
      Wits: Hezekiah Linton, William Linton.
Letters to Joshua B. Linton, the son being a minor.
Then in 1828, Isaac's widow Martha, went before the Chester County, PA or phans court to have a guardian assigned to her minor child and grandchild ren. Transcript follows:
Chester County, PA Orphans Court 1828
To the honorable Isaac Darlington(?) Esq and his associate judges of th e Orpahns Court held and kept at West Chester for the County of Chester F ebruary term(?) 1828.
The petition of Martha Creswell widow and relict of Isaac Creswell late o f the township of Londonderry in said county Deceased. Humbly sheweth
That your petitioners said husband left issue ten children one of whome t o wit Miriam Creswell is a minor under the age of fourteen years. And on e other of whome to wit Rachel was intermarried with George Thompson bot h since deceased leaving four orphan children three of whome to wit Willi am K., Martha Jane, and Alexander F. Thompson are minor under the age o f fourteen years. Which said four minor children under the age of fourtee n years have no guardians to take care of their persons and estates you r petitioner therefore humbly prays your honors to appoint some proper pe rson as guardian of said chldren and proposes Joshua B. Linton as a suita ble person for that purpose.
      And she will pray,
      (signed) Martha Criswell
I believe your Alexander Franklin Thompson is the Alexander F. Thompson r eferenced in the above document. I tracked a William K. Thompson out to A shland, Ohio from Pennsylvania where he established a home and died. I d o not know what became of Mary Jane their sister.
I have a tree out on Ancestry if you'd like to take a look at it under m y username wclink. If you think this is your Alexander Thompson, I'd lov e to have any feedback or corrections you have. Also, if you've found ou t anything about the Thompson family other than George the father I woul d be grateful for that as well.
Thanks for getting back with me!
      Wendy Clink
