IV. Capt. Matthew Hyde (36), born at Norwich, Conn.,
28 April, 1711, the fourth son of John Hyde (5) and
Experience Abel (98), was a grandson of Samuel Hyde (2)
the first, and Jane Lee, of Norwich. He m. 19 April,
1733, Elizabeth Huntington, b. 6 May, 1712, daughter of
Deacon Christopher Huntington of Norwich, by his second
wife, the widow Judith Brewster.
[This Deacon Christopher Huntington was the first'
white male child born in Norwich (b. l Nov., 1660), and
was son of the first Christopher Huntington of Norwich
by his wife, Ruth Rockwell of Windsor, and grandson of
Simon Huntington and Margaret Barret of Norwich, in
England, who, with his three sons, Simon, Christopher and
Samuel, and one daughter, embarked in 1633 for Boston,
Mass. He died on the passage. Deacon Christopher
Huntington m. 26 May, 1681, Sarah Adgate (the second
daughter of the first Deacon Thomas Adgate of Nor-
wich by his second wife, Mary Marvin, widow of Richard
Buslmel of Saybrook, and daughter of the first Matthew
Marvin of Hartford), and had by her six sons and two
daughters. She d. in Feb., 1706. He then m. in Oct.,
1706, Judith Brewster, the widow of Jonathan Brewster,
and had by her two sons and two daughters, and d. 24
April, 1735.]
Capt. Matthew Hyde settled at Norwich West Farms,
now Franklin, where his wife d. 20 May, 1776.

m. 26 Aug., 1776, Hannah Pember (1645), b. 16 March,
1750, at Norwich, eldest daughter of John Pember (398)
and Irene Wood of Norwich, and granddaughter of his
first cousin Mary Hyde (55), eldest daughter of Thomas
Hyde (7) of the third generation. He d. 18 March, 1792.
She d. 11 March, 1839, at Paris, N. Y.
