He was born in 1847. I know that his father and mother were Daniel Stone Hood and Elizabeth Jernigan. There's lots of blank spaces. There was at least 3 children born to "Gus Hood" as he was called...My grandfather, Robert Earl "Bud" Hood (DOB 16 June 1882), Daisy Hood Marlow and Albert ? Hood. (Not sure about DOB's on the other two. The parents of these children was "Gus" and Carry Lewis. This info came from a SSA form dated 17 June 1937 where my Granddad "Bud" applied for a Social Security Number. Although he is Gustavus Aldolphus H ood, in some records his name is given as Gustound Augustus Hood. He is listed in the Censuses for Dale Co. AL for 1850, 1860, 1866, and 1870. I wonder if Carry Lewis was his second wife because the 1870 Census says: Hood, Augustus, Surveyor, Male, age 24, b: AL S. J., female, age 18, Keeps house, b: AL
